Emerging Revolutionary War is pleased to partner with the Adams Memorial Foundation to share some reading about America’s “Founding Family.” The Foundation holds a monthly book club, hosted by Board President Jackie Cushman. In special arrangement with the Adams Memorial Foundation, ERW is sharing links to the first few conversations from that book club.
The next book highlighted in our series is Remembering John Adams: The Second President in History, Memory and Popular Culture by Marianne Holdzkom (McFarland, 2023).
Marianne Holdzkom is a professor of history at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia, and an Adams Memorial Foundation Scholar. She specializes in the colonial and revolutionary periods of United States history, focusing on the study of History and Memory. She has contributed chapters in edited volumes on the subject of history in popular culture including “A Past to Make Us Proud: U.S. History According to Disney” in Learning From Micky, Donald and Walt: Essays on Disney’s Edutainment Films (McFarland, 2011). He interest in John Adams began during the United States Bicentennial, when she first saw the musical 1776. 𝑹𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑱𝒐𝒉𝒏 𝑨𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒔 was named an Outstanding Academic Title by Choice Reviews.
